People that installed gears in there rear end

Did any of you have to use some special tools to get to the gears?

Getting to the gears is easy - sure, but installing a new set PROPERLY requires some special tools.

Hydraulic press, bearing separator, inch pound torque wrench (or very good torque wrench that can go down to 1-2 foot pound.), 6' long piece of rebar (or the proper wheel bearing tool), pinion depth tool (or trial & error with contact patching), dial caliper, dial gauge, etc.........

That's all I can remember, but those are the tools I used.

Ron

damn here we go again ron. this ought to be a sticky, or something that pops up in a search. "special tool" to hold pinion yoke, indicator and mag base, mics, and all the common hand tools.

Oh yes, to get to the gears is cake, but I failed to mention the tools you need to install new gears. My mistake.

Ron and Ede cleared that up. Thanks guys.

Not to be a jerk, but whats up with the sig.? Just put "Future mods in the works" or something. I dunno, I guess I am a Jerk. I have seen longer ones than that, but ohh well.
