trq convertor question

trq convertor question

if i got something like a 2500 stall convertor will i have to rev it up to 2500 every time i want to move or is that just when your on the gas? i don't know that much about trq convertors and how they work.

no you'll start moving before your stall speed. you won't be 100% locked up though in the transmission. I havea 2200 stall in one of my cars and it just doensn't accel. as fast as it would when I'm going slow.

your stall speed is more or less the speed you're automatic would "dump the clutch" as a manual would if you were drag racing. If you have a higher stall, you can keep your foot on the brake and rev it up to higher into your powerband for incredibly hard launches. So stock is 1700 rpm or something like that, you rev your car past 1700 and it will start to spin the tires and not just rev the motor when you have your foot on the brake. a 2500 rpm stall, you can rev it to 2500 rpm before it grips.
