Strongest non-computer controlled tranny

I want to know what are the strongest non computer controlled 5 or 6 speed manual trannys that will fit into our cars? i think the t-56 is computer controlled so thats out. any others? Thanks

I don't think so. A manual trans is ..... manually controlled. By definition. No fly-by-wire there.

i dunno ive heard of things like CAGS on the t-56 which is ecm controlled and an electronic/computer controlled speedo and stuff like that. Anyway so what is the strongest one? somethign strong enough for a bbc or something of the like. Im not very well versed in trannys which is kinda why im asking you guys

If you put one into a car that doesn't have the electroinics to control the CAGS, then it doesn't do anything. Shifts normally as if CAGS wasn't there.

Hooking up a mechanical (cable driven) speedo is just that, mechanical. Jags That Run used to sell an adapter to put a cable-drive speedo in one, so it's possible.

The T-56 design seems to be strong enough to handle a 488 CID 10-cylinder.... it'll probably work OK with most V8s.

thank you for your help .. i have one more question though , Which t-56 is better? the stock fourthgen one or an aftermarket one
