Man this scared me..

I was driving home yesterday.. it was about 1 or 2 dergees celsius and the air was very humid.. anyway i stoped at the lights and had to shift in neuteral b/c the car was about to stall (i think i have a problem with my ignition...) no problem.. got it in neutral and pressed the gas carfully.. the engine started up for the allmost stall (100-200rpms to the "normal" 1000rpms, cold engine) I put it in gear b/c the lights chaged and stall again.. i quickly shifted to N and pressed the gas.. 3.s in N and the engine started idealing properly again.. Then bam.. the transmission changed to R and i allmost hit the guy behind me... the question is what the hell happend?? I was in neutral for sure.. i pulled the shifter back (w/o pressing the button) one notch and it was in OD and continued with no problems... the car worked fine after that.. It's only happed once. Can i expect it to do it again?? whats wrong??

(the idealing problem only apears when the weater is above 0´C..
odd np with -20)

So you are using the stock shifter with a th400 tranny. My guess is that it isn't adjusted correctly, or the th400 detents are different than notches in the shifter.
