Thirdgen Disc Brake Rear End or Fourth Gen?

Which is better 3rd or 4th Gen? I can get both for the same price. Just wondering if there is a difference other then on the 4th gen the wheels stick out 2" more.

4th gen rear end is better if you plan on using 4th gen wheels- otherwise you'll have to get spacers since the 4th gen rear is a different size than the 3rd gen. Both should bolt up with a little tweaking- i'd go 4th gen just because its newer and has newer technology

Spacers?

I heard that witht he 4th gen rear end, the stock IROC-Z wheels will stick out 2".

Spacers are used to make them sick out more? I went to my car & measured, 2" past where my wheels are now, myt wheels willbe sticking out around a 1/4" past the fenders...

id say the 4th gen is better all around, better breaking performance, its newer, and the gears and rear itself should be stronger and if you keep your stock wheels itll give the rear a more aggressive look with the 4 inch longer track, definately go 4th gen, if you have a choice theres no reason to go third unless its a firehawk dana rear.
