ok heres the deal..... i bought a 86 Iroc like 2 weeks ago with all intentions to part it out, but ive now decided to build it up again as a driver...Heres my question...im not sure about the trans in the car.. yes i know originally it was a 700r4, but im not so sure now...half the engine had been removed and the car sat for over 6 years. the guy i bought it from also bought it this way as well and never touched it.. all he can tell me is "supposedly" it has a rebuilt trans with a shift kit... but he said he couldnt prove it. Now today while going over what was left of the engine compartment i removed the wiring harness and could see the top of the trans....it has a large sticker on the bell housing saying "TS -Transmission Specialists" so im pretty sure it was rebuilt at some time...but i also noticed while most conectors left were attched, the wiring for the "700R4" was hanging free tucked up by the brake booster..and there seemed to be a vacum line that runs down to the trans. I never remembered a 700r4 having a vacumm line....Anyone got any ideas?? i'll look under the car tomorrow and i should be able to tell exactly what im dealing with, but i just wanna get an idea tonight maybe.....Thanks
i jacked the car up and just snapped a few blind shots under the car....this is the best one...its dark and getting cold out so i wont take a flashlight and crawl under there till tomorrow..oh yea...it also has an additional trans cooler installed inline with the one in the radiator...shows something has been done to the trans i think...on friday i just sold a 700r4 i had layign in my garage so im kicking myself that i cant look at it now to compare them

here look at tcis website and look for the trans pan that matches the shape of yours.. http://www.tciauto.com/components/tr...ion_pans.htm.. from what i can see if it i'd say its a 350 or a 700r4
I found out what it is....turbo 350...im excited...better than a 700r4 in my eyes...considering i paid 500 for the whole car and its in decent condtion...now i get a rebuilt th350 with a shift kit....cool...itll go perfectly with the built 350 carb motor im putting in...hehe...on back passenger side of the trans pan, it slants in the one corner, its not a perfect square like the 700r4 basically is...this pic i found online helped me....Thanks for all your help :lala:

you should check the amount of bolts on your transmission pan, the turbo 350 looks identical to a turbo 200 metric transmission, however the 350 has 1 more bolt than the turbo 350
