98 t56 in 3rd gen?

i might have the chance to get a 98 t65 out of a trans am cheep and i was wondering if it bolts up to my 89 350 tpi like one would out of a 94 . I only ask because it is out of a ls1 i didn't know if there were any diferences between the two in like # of splines ect. can i use the clutch and bellhousing out of the ls1 and just get a new crossmember? any information would be apreciated.

i remember a topic like this a while ago. i dont remember specifics, but i know that an LS1 t56 has a different bolt pattern and will not fit any other engine other than an LS1....

how cheap? if it is really cheap, buy it, put the whole shebang on ebay, get a pretty penny for it, than buy the whole shebang from an LT1 car.

Although Weir makes a bellhousing to bolt up a 98-02 -body trans to a Gen I or Gen II SB Chevrolet or BBC, the input has no throwout sleeve for a bearing to ride on. Also, you'd have to cut your driveshaft.

LS1 on the left, LT1 on the right.

ya i thought that it wouldnt work but i wasn't sure what the diff was thanks for the info. I can get the tranny for almost nothing just mostly my work of taking it out because i helped out a freind. how much would it be worth?
