idle shakes
idle shakes
hey guys
i'v got a 92 rs, 305 TBI auto w/ 160+k miles. Eibach pro springs, spohn sfcs and sways, rebuilt front n rear ends w/ polygraphite.
stock motor and exhaust (new from cat back)
the car had a rebuilt GM dealer installed tranny 2 years ago and has about 20K miles on it. it had a tune up at the same time. the car has been garaged and driven very little up til 6 months ago.
Now its a daily driver.
It runs well, strong and very stable idle. Tach is solid. However, when it idles the car shakes. If i get on it, the a/c blower on max slows down as if on low then blows hard when i let off.
my mechanic said theres nothing wrong with the engine, no misfires and confirms smoth running. He suspects it may be the torque converter.
any ideas ?
thanks

This might sound weird, but check your ac compressor. Mine did the same thing and it only did it when the ac or heat was on. Turned it off and smooth idle. Should be something to look out for.

before i replaced my orque converter, i had a similar problem...but not the same problem. the car would shake like crazy at certain low rpms. my problem was without a doubt a torque converter...maybe yours is as well, sounds like it coudl be.
