Are all 9 bolt housings the same ?
I know the brake hardware on the BW rear changed in '89, meaning different backing plates were required. Were there any other changes made throughout the model years or are all the 9 bolt housings the same?

on the 9 bolt the DRUM axle housing flange is different from the DISC axle housing flange.
examples......
86 DISC rear end housing will be the same as a 89 DISC housing. (just change backing plates & hardlines to swap to the newer brake system)
86 DRUM rear end housing will be the same as a 89 DRUM housing. (if there is a 89' drum setup on 9 bolts???)

What specifically are you interested in knowing? All the 9 bolt housings are direct fit. The drum brake version is very uncommon. Other than that, they are all the same.

Ive got a '86 IROC rear w/ the sh*tty Saginaw calipers. (2.77 ratio) Im planning on swapping it into my '89 Formula and just switching the backing plates and PBRs onto the IROC diff. First, Ive got to get a carrier and 3.45s, cause the 2.77s just arent gonna cut it.
