Trans. Temp. Gauge Question

Ok, I am getting a trans temp guage and I was looking at the suggested parts section and it suggested I get this part.
Trans Temp Gauge Manifold
Do I really need this or does it just help simplify the install? This is the gauge I am getting.
Trans Gauge
Thanks

i'd use a tee with one NPT hole and 2 holes for flared lines, no compression fittings

I wouldn't go splicing into the stock hard lines with compression fittings either. Just asking for trouble that way. But, people do it and get away with it though.

My guage sender is in a T at the input of my tranny cooler. I used adapters to go from the 5/16 IF stock lines into -6AN lines, which then adapt to pipe for the in/out of the cooler.

The other solution would be to drop the tranny pan and have a fitting welded on to that and just get the temp there.

eric...this is a pic of mine i just put in lasy week.

i used one of the B&M drain plug kits...and instead of putting the actual plug into the drain plug, i used the temp sender for the trans temp gauge.

hopefully it does not leak...but i figured if the drain plug kit is good enough for a drain plug, it must be good enough for the sender...

keep it real man...
