700r4 shifting

Can a modified engine change the timing of shifts in a 700r4 transmission. I am refering to the car in my signature. The car seems to shift fine from 1st to 2nd just after it shifts to second I wot it imediately kicksdown but wont up shift until about 6,000 rpm. Is something out of adjustment or did my engine mods change the shift characteristics

When did the shifts occur before at WOT? When the TV cable is adjusted right, the transmission should make a 2-1 kickdown, (right after the light throttle 1-2 shift occurs) when you floor it.

Thanks for replying Dana,

The 2-1 shift occurs right after1-2 shift under light throttle then at WOT I have to let off the throttle a little otherwise the tranny wants to shift around 6,000 to 6,500 rpm and sometimes not shift at all untill I let off the throttle a little. I dont feel slippage, its a pretty firm shift when it shifts. I was wondering if a shift correction kit maybe in order. I have a good 2-1 kickdown right after 1-2 upshift. My second thought on this is maybe I have pump onits way out or some other problem with line pressure. The other thought I had is maybe I need to change my converter to a higher stall with the mods I have in my signature. Quite frankly its getting to be a pain in the a$$ and I almost tempted to go the TH 350 route. Finally I wonder if my governor needs to be recalibrated to compensate for the engine mods. I just dont know which way to go with this.

The trans should have near the same shift characteristics as before the engine mods, given that the TV adjustments are correct.
Does the trans have a normal upshift on other than wot?
I doubt that you have a pump going out. You'ld have lower line presure in that instance. It sounds like too much line presure.
It most likely is an adustment issue.

Hey Arrio,

Thanks for the imput. I used to live in Newport News off of Harpersville Rd.. I kinda miss the fishing lol. I was thinking about this all weekend. I think its an adjustment issue too. The 1-2 upshift on light throttle is pretty soft. I am hesisitant in making an adjustment on the TV cable without a guage. I may have to live with what I have since I cant get the bolt out of the guage port and a little too much line pressure maybe better than not enough, so they say error on the side of high in this instance.
