Tranny Mount

I am in the process of replacing my broken tranny mount. When I take out the old mount should I jack up the trans a little bit or should I just leave it. And I was wondering if the mount needs to be torque'd down or if I should just tighten the crap out of it.

The mount doesn't take much torque, you can tighten the hell out of it. I believe it is 40ft/lbs going to the tranny and about 35 going to the crossmember. Personally, I would drop the crossmember, just put a jack with a block of wood under the floor pan, give it some good tension, then undo the crossmember and let it down. It'll give you simple access to the mount to tranny bolts. The crossmember is insanely light, so it's not even an issue.

Thanks for the suggestion 91Z28-350. That saved me a whole lot of time and headaches by taking the crossmember out. Now that I have it out I'm gonna sandblast it and get it painted. Here's a pic of the broken mount and crossmember
