swap 86' z28 rear end to another 86' z28

Ok, here's the thing, I just got another 86' iroc and this car is a true POS with a nice red paint job, but my baby (another 86 z28) is close to a $20,000 car. Anway, I want to swap rear ends from one to the other, the red has 3.23 gears and rear disc brakes and of course mine is a 2.73 with drum breaks. What kind of work am I looking at? As far as the brake conversion, what all things do I need to make the rear disc work. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

It's pretty much just a direct swap! I put a disc rear from an 88 in my 84 a little over a year ago. You just unbolt everything while supporting the housing, then drop it down out,

As for the brakes, just swap the master cylinder (they are different!) and the combination valve that is just below the master cylinder. On mine, I had to bend one of the lines to get the valve to fit, but there was plenty to work with!

Good Luck!

Thank you very much, I was told that different brake lines had to be used, and that I had to change to a different e-brake cable due to length. Which I guess if that's the case, I have a donor car, but It would make it a lot easier if I could use what's already there. Thanks Again.

No to the different brake lines, just crack the lines loose at the point it goes from the flexible line to the line that goes to the front of the car on both vehicles. (surrounded by a steel bracket) You will also have to use the rear brake cables out of the donor car but this it not a big problem. Once all is disconnected, swap the rears with everything on them, brake cables, lines, swaybars and even the control arms if they are the same.
Good luck!
