Vigilante converter street manners

Ok Ive read allot on this using search, but there wasnt much INPUT with the streetablity of this converter. How does it act compared to the stock TQ????

Does the shifts feel slushy, does it feel like it slipping, do you have any neg comments at all, I really looking for low speed streetablity comments.

My car mainly street so I really didnt want to affect the drivablity

Oh, and a final note which one would you think would be the best for my application I have a L98 and the mods are in my sig

I am leaning towards 259415 2600 stall would the 2800 be to much? or should I lean towards the 2400

If you have this converter installed your input is GREATLY appreciated

I don't have a PI one but I do have the ACT 9.5 inch lockup stall... pretty much the same thing but not made to take as much punishment. Mines a 2400 lockup.
The shifts feel a little slushy but that's due to the fact that the converter is lighter than the stock one. I can definitely tell it has an aftermarket stall in it. It's a little harder to get up steep inclines (car ramps without using boards to reduce the angle) cause the car won't move until it reaches that rpm and then it just spins.

Sometimes on slopes I got to becareful to remember to keep the brake on (I'm lazy) or I'll start rolling backwards slowly.

Stop signs and lights it takes a little more to get off the line. Definitely not the immediate reponse with light throttle like the stock converter. It doesn't take a bunch I can easily keep up with traffic off the line.

I've heard you could go up to a 2800 with the stock heads. My 2400 seems pretty decent for me though. I bought it through Pro-Built with the new 700-r4. My mechanic, who runs a 4k stall on his bbc chevelle, guessed it 2500 to 3000 rpm launch.

You could always phone up Pro-Built they sale ACT and PI stalls and he knows his stuff.

Oh and You'll notice a good amount of more tq off the start line. I went from bogging at full throttle off the line (put on Spohn SFC, LCAs, and brackets all at once) to a full out smokin tire start with the Pro-Built and ACT.

When I talked to Pro-Built about maybe upgrading to a PI he said there wasn't much need unless I planned on running a 100+ shot. The PI offers anti ballooning plates. I'm guessing a PI will have the same street manners. Also that was from my stock 350 tpi (no cam or anything).

I'm running a 3600 stall Vigilante and I am 110% satisfied and totally impressed with it. The street manners are awesome. In fact - I am so impressed with it that I wish I would have gone with a 4000 stall.

Yes, I did start out with a 2800. That was a good MATCH for the 218/224 cam. However, with the 230/245 I needed something higher.

Of course it doesn't feel like a stock converter It's a 3600 stall. However, for a 3600 stall it is pretty tight. It doesn't feel that slushy to me. However, going from a 2800 to a 3600 isn't as big of a difference as compared to a stock converter to a 3600.

Thanks for your insight Tim, I guess my real question is, does it feel like its slipping under 2k (most of my cruising RPM) also second hits really hard on my car, did you notice it soften it up or did it feel about the same. In addition PI recommended the 2600 converter for my combo, I was thinking about the 2800 what would you do?

I should have ask this to start with

The shifts will soften a little due to weight loss in the drivetrain, or at least that's from what I've noticed. That's just caused by going from wider diameter (stock) to a lower diameter (which gets you a higher multiplier).
