gearing

i have an 84 trans am and i have an 89 trans am. the gearing in the 84 is 3.23 the gearing in the 89 is 2.73 what is better gearing? is the 3.23 going to get me better acceleration losing speed or is the 2.73 more acceleration? i'm gong for acceleration, not really too much speed. i don't want to spend money for 3.42 gearing or anything i just wanna make the best out of what i already have. thanks for the help.

3.23 is better for acceleration. 2.73 sucks!

Disk brakes came out in 82 for these cars.

Alot of the later T/As, especially ones with TBI motors and 305 TPI auto combinations (which you have one or the other of, those being the applications that also got the grocery-cart gears), still came with drums.
