rear end clunk

Hi all,

I've got a clunking sound out of my rear. I checked the driveshaft and the tranny mounts, and they are all good and solid. If I spin the driveshaft a bit (when connected to the axle), there's some play. The play seems to be what's causing the clunking sound, from what I can tell. It's about 1/8-1/4 turn of the driveshaft before I get any resistance, and when the resistance hits, it clunks. What exactly might that be? Is that the rear end going, or perhaps the axle shafts? Or is that all normal and I'm being paranoid?

Thanks,
