t-56 rotated?
t-56 rotated?
Hi,
I completed my T-56 swap a month ago and am using the Spohn TA/crossmember. One thing that is beginning to bug me is that the transmission is rotated and the tranny mount is on edge, when on the crossmember. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this the proper fitment? It looks like I would need to shim the passenger side of the tranny mount, it's about 1/4" off the crossmember. This also puts some pressure on the motor and rotates the motor a tad as well, so the motor is tilted when looking at it from the engine bay.
Thanks!

Which T56? An LT1 version, or the aftermarket one or?
If aftermarket, are you using an 83 or an 84-92 T5 bellhousing? Originally on the aftmkt. version there was the bolt pattern for the T5 (rotated) pattern. So many people were drilling the adapter plate for a "straight up" T10 pattern, that they might come that way now.
So yeah, your post lacks details which help answer your question.

Dunno then. We put a 96 T56 in a 91 Z28 with the Spohn crossmember and Tq arm with out any such problem. Post pics
Hmm, I don't have a camera.
I'm also using the prothane tranny mount, and was unable to use the 2 bolts on the side and had to go to a single bolt in the middle (like the stocker). It appears that the crossmember (or tranny) is tilted a bit, relative to the crossmember, so that the 2 bolts do not line up. Did you encounter anything like that either?

I would call Spohn and describe this to them..Sometimes products "slip" past Quality control departments..they may have run into this before, and may have a sollution for you.
