Indexing forward rev. drum w. sun shell?? assembly of 700 r4?

Indexing forward rev. drum w. sun shell?? assembly of 700 r4?
Hey.
Just a quick question. I am to put back my 700 r4 (1986) and I noticed (now, not at disassembly..) that on the rev input drum there are 2 or 3 extra slots besides what goes on to the sun shell (I may have name wrong, at work now and no manuals here).
Anyway, on the sun shell? there are 3 holes that I wonder if they must line up with the rev drum slots? I cant see in my manual that they must go in any special way.
Is it important, and also, what are they for? balance? oil?
I don't want to have to worry about having it back togeter the wrong way.
