700r4 and 383

I'm getting ready to swap my tired old 305 for the 383. I was just wondering about how the 700r4 will hold up. I know it needs to be rebuilt, will most rebuild shops be able to do it so that it can handle the amount of HP and TQ? I would much rather have it rebuilt than spend a lot on a new one right now.

You can ask around, but there are few people who know how to build these right.

Good luck trying to find someone to rebuild it at a reasonale price. Just to get mine rebuilt back to with upgraded bands was over $1400. I got one from Pro-built for $1395 and he adds a lot more upgrades to it than the local shops was going to. They wouldn't even put the shift kit in for me. It was included in the Pro-built 700R4.

Man...I wasn't planning on spending a lot on the tranny until I really wanted to, and had the money, to get a new 700r4 or swap to a T56.
