3.23 rearend

can someone tell me where this thing came from. it is stamped gm 22522676 on the bottom of the case and someone marked 3.23 gears on the cover. it is non posi so I am assuming it probably came from a v6 camaro. How hard would it be to make it in to a posi rear and would it be worth it?

That part # is the casting number of the housing center section. Entirely useless.

Take the cover off and look, before you do anything. You have to do it sooner or later anyway, might as well do it now, and quit the guesswork and "codes" and "somebody wrote something" BS. Go straight to the truth, bypass all the detours.

Count the gear teeth and count the splines. Reality doesn't lie and is not ambiguous. You need to know whether it's a 2-series or 3-series carrier, what gears it has, and how many splines the axles have; you can't tell any of the accurately and with certainty from outside the cover.

well if it where a 10 bolt with 28 splines axles it would be very worth it to put a posi in it.

the slp posi for 100 bucks would work just fine i believe.
