potential TH-350 problem

Hey guys, I have a potential problem (maybe). I just installed a TH-350 in my bracket car, bear in mind I bought the tranny condition unknown, I have a TCI 3000 rpm stall torque converter in with it, I don't have the kickdown cable hooked up or the vacuum modulator. now the problem:

I moved the car out of the garage under it's own power today and it seemed like it was in a bind, the car would not move on it's own without applying alot of gas. it almost feels like the brakes are on, but I can push the car around in neutral with little effort so I know the brakes are loose. I also tried jacking the car up and with the motor off I can turn the rear wheels freely in every gear except park (of course).

I'm not sure there is a problem but it just doesn't feel right.

come on guys, no one has any input here.

is it just me not being used to the 3000 torque converter or is there maybe something wrong with the tranny.
