Has any one tried to rebuild their own tranny here? [url]www.kdsperformance.com has a great book and video on rebuilding the tranny. Plus the have the transgo shift kit and rebuild kit. I would consider myself a pretty capable backyard mechanic and I'm thinking of trying to pull this off. Just looking to see if any of you have gone through it.

I would like to try this also but I have heard there are a lot of specialty tools that you HAVE to get. For me it seems if you are only rebuilding one, it wouldn't be worth it. Then again, I'm not really sure how much all these tools cost. I would like to hear from someone about this.

I recommend the manual and video package. A lot of guys on this board have rebuilt their transmissions, but they probably learned
on simpler ones than a 700-r4. You don't need all of those factory-

i yanked mines and rebuilt it.... moderate difficulty.... but at that time i was a fledgeling mechanic... just got to take your time... thats all.... one u got some mechanical skills u should be alright
