About to do t-56 searching, any advice...
My plan was to put in a t-5 into my T/A, but after I found that I could put a 6 spd for almost the same price my eye moved toward the lt1 t-56 swap.
I have noticed one thing though. The 93 t-56 has a final of .63 not the .5 that I want, right? Only the 94-97 would be desireable, I guess. What can I do to check the tranny to determine which model it is. I am not good at year identification, and some times the person with the car could lie, or might not know...
I know that they have told me this a thousand times, but the torque arm and drive shaft that I have on my 700 r4 are reusable for the t-56 right? Also could some one who has done the swap give me the list of everything I should get of of the car.
I have read the swap article in the tech section, but I have an 82, so I am curious if I need anymore. If that list is sufficent, don't worry about reposting it for me...
What other parts are useable from the car? I know the dash, guages, console, and seats, but what else.
I have a 9-bolt and a 350 engine, incase it matters...
thanks

LS1 T56s are a big headache.
94-97 is most desireable.
The most desireable package is a complete package, or else youll be piecing together a project as opposed to a quick and efficient swap. i would get a complete package from a reputable company if i could do it over.
Hope this helps.
