Is this considered slipping???

Hey. My car sat for a year and now I am driving it again.

I am not sure if it has always done this or it is something new.

When I am driving, say 80 mph @ 2000 rpm's on the highway and let off the gas and coast, I will see my rpm's lower kind of quick to 1000 rpm's. The car is still going fast, maybe 75-78 mph, but the rpms have dropped a lot.....car is automatic btw.

It seems like the car is slipping into neutral when I am not giving it any gas. IS this normal? After noticing that I adjusted my TV cable and it still does the same thing. What is going on when it does that?

oh yeah, when accelerating the car does not slip through any gears, it just seems to slip into neutral when letting completely off the gas.
