Well, a week ago the torque converter hub departed the tc and left me stranded on the side of the road. Burnt up the tranny too

Almost $1800 Canadian later I have a rebuilt 700r4 with TranGo Stage2 shift kit and Corvette servo.

Wow!

What a DIFFERENCE. This feels like a new car now, and for all practical purposes it IS, as I've done work on EVERY part of the drivetrain now except the 305's shortblock

It shifts VERY quickly now but NOT harsly. It is simply "zip-zip" and you have an upshift and a downshift just like that! No monkeying around trying to decide which way to go, no hunting up and down or slipping. Very decisive.

But when you stand on it at half throttle it will chirp the tires every time

It cost an aweful lot of dough that I didn't want to spend but it is quite a tranny now. It actually reminds me of a standard tranny now, because the entire drivetrain moves in 100% unison. You just barely blip the gas peddle in 2nd or 3rd and the whole car jumps INSTANTLY

My mechanic has a guy that rebuilds all kinds of trannies out of his back yard shop. Don't know his name but I'll try to find out.
