According to the directions, Hurst wants you to use this so-called secondardy transmission crossmember and bolt it to their supplied crossmember

well i have an 89 and i dont have this secondary crossmember....i haven't really looked into if i really need it to install it or not, anyone else have a problem like this?

this is what i'm talking about, the small one:

If they say you need it, then you probably need it.

You'll have to go to the junkyard and just find one by looking at cars. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason that any of us has been able to figure out as to what cars got it and what cars didn't.

The pic is the one off of my 83 HO Z28. Needless to say, it didn't come from the factory with the 3 slots in it for mount bolts. You probably won't find one in the boneyard quite like that.

I have a 1988 firebird that came originally with a 2.8L auto... It has that exact crossmember (with only one slot).. I'm still using it with my conversion, never really thought otherwise about it...

All of the factory v8 cars I have seen have a one piece crossmember. Anybody know why they made the two piece (other then more insulation?)?
