Well, my radiator is going. Getting that badboy replaced. Odd thing is, there is tranny fluid sitting inside the radiator. It has me worried since the transmission fluid and oil levels are good.
Anyway, off that subject, here's my problem.
I cruise in my car, I get to about 45 mph and 1500 RPM's then release the gas..and the RPM's drop to 1000 causing a "drag" if you will for half a second, then releasing. My $$ is on the sprag... literally.
'89 Iroc 5.7 TPI with valve cover gaskets going, tranny going, T-top seals going, and paint going.
My poor poor car.

Cool. I think I'll go ahead and get the radiator, oxygen sensor, and heater core replaced and see how she runs afterwards (cooling-wise)
Other than that, I'll do that, take it to a transmission shop and have them check it out.... I'm pretty sure they will tell me it needs rebuilt. Thanks.
Oh! and 89irocNOH.. if I do get tired of it.. when the earth explodes, I'll definately ship it your way, I'll even pay for shipping.

I was just wondering..maybe I read wrong, but you said there is ATF in the coolant? If so..maybe some water in trans fluid. I just did a 4L80e in my friend's truck same problem cooler failed and let water into the trans. just my 2cents.

My mistake, it was oil. Dun dun dunnnnnnn. Was wondering why my baby was eating oil like noones buisness. Replaced the radiator, oxygen sensor and lo and behold, I still have the same problem, and after reading over the boards a bit, I tested the diagnostics with the special tool. With the paper clip secured, I recieved the normal 12, 12, 12's along with 33's. MAF.. and after looking at the prices of these babys, and the relays, I'm going to be eating cups of noodles and Ramen for a month from all the work that's been done so far. It's a shame the prev. owner did not take care of this car.
So, a quick summary:
#1. Code 33 - MAF sensor error
#2. driving at various speeds, RPM's up to 1500 and releasing the gas, the car drops to 1000 RPM's with a decrease in power. Then the car drives normal after it hits the 1000 mark, lather, rinse, repeat until the car is shut off.
Oops, wasn't so quick. Sorry.
I'm not a mechanic unfortunately, but with the information I find here and the good old trial and error, I will be in a few years..
Any thoughts on MAF sensor/relay replacement that could possibly fix problem #2?
BTW - I did not have this problem until I replaced all sensors except the MAF, and then suddenly, problem #2 occurs. No idea how long I've had code 33....
A bit long, but helps me relieve the stress build-up after getting my car back from the shop.
Thanks in advance. (I've yet to be able to hit a transmission shop to test, 25thanniversZ)
