84 rear in 89

would a 84 Z28 HO 5 speed 3.27 9-bolt posi disc fit in a 89 formula?

Yes. All thirdgen rearends, whether it be a BW 9-bolt or an American Axle/Saginaw 10-bolt, use the same mounts. If you are going from disc to drum, or PBR calipers to cast iron calipers, the parking brake cables will vary as will the proportioning valve.

Sure, except that there's no such thing as a 84 9-bolt. Either the rear came from some other car, or it's mis-identified. See "features from the future" near the bottom of this post.
