Speedo gear question
Speedo gear question
I'm changing from a 2.73 rear to a 3.42 rear. I really don't want to change the drive gear, so how close can I get by only changing the driven gear? And which gear would I need to do so?
If I do change both, which ones will I need?
Thanks In Advance

Well tell ya what just trade me that convertable............
www.700r4.com has a calculator for that you can also buy the parts from them for around the same cost as GM. I had to take the tail shaft off and replace the drive gear with the grey one 15 tooth, driven yellow 43, and the off set housing. GM told me they dident make either a off set housing or grey drive gear but gave em the part numbers and had it the same day. But of course my tire diameter is different so the part numbers might not be the same. I dont miss the 700r4.

I had a 700r4 out of a 2.73 rear gear car it had the red drive gear in the tranny....I put it in my Z and that has 3.42 gears in it what I did was left the red drive gear in and used a 45 tooth (Lt.Blue) driven gear and it is right on.....Hope that helps!
