In my on going search for a posi unit for my 84 z HO I have found someone locally who says they know someone with a torsen disk rear with 3.73 gears from an 84 z. The impression I get from talking to him is that this is the stock rear?
Now am I crazy or did torsen make posi's for GM in 84 and I can't find anything on it. Or is it not stock, or not just not accurate?
Also, I have drum brakes on my current rear. From what I've been able to find here on line (guy claims I'll get the brake parts with the new rear), all I need to make the disk to drum swap is a new proportioning valve (or the one of the donor). Can anyone verify this?
And lastly, assuming it is a stock 84 rear, is there any reason why I couldn't just swap in my drum axles assuming switching to disk is more difficult? I only street drive the car to and from the track and then on the track, so is there any good reason for me to swap to disk?
Thanks in advance for any info

"Torsen" did not make them in the past, they don't make them now, and they won't make them in the future. WHAT, you ask? Torsen is not the company, its the term Zexel coined to summerize there line of "Torque Sensing" limited slip differentials.
But to answer your question, the Zexel Torsen limited slip was not installed from the factory in any thirdgen. If it does have one (which does not make it better than any other limited slip), it was installed by somebody else.

Okay so what's a fair price to offer for a 3.73 geared disk posi rear?
