80w-90 or 75w-90

Alright I got the stock non posi rear right now with 2.73's, but will soon be installing an eaton posi with 3.42 gears. Which type of gear oil should I use? The manual calls for 80w-90, but should I use something different for the eaton?

Those are so close as to make no difference at all.

I'd recommend synthetic gear lube and a bottle of posi additive.

Thanks, I'm definitely gettin synthetic and the posi additive will go in with the posi. I can't seem to find many synthetics in the 80w-90 form, mostly 75w-90. Know where I could find some synthetic 80w-90?

http://www.amsoil.com/products/agr.html

"AMSOIL 80W-90 Gear Lube exceeds the lubrication and performance requirements for gear boxes where API MT-1, GL-4 or GL-5 lubricants are specified. AMSOIL Synthetic Gear Lubes provide limited slip performance. Although generally not necessary, manufacturers' limited slip additives may be used in conjunction with AMSOIL Synthetic Gear Lube."

I've heard of a few people (out of thousands) who had chattering w/o the additive.

Personally, I prefer: http://www.amsoil.com/products/tgr.html

"AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Gear Lube provides limited slip performance. Although generally not necessary, original equipment manufacturers' limited slip additives may be used in conjunction with AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Gear Lube."

I've never known of anyone who had to use the additive with the Series 2000 product.
