i'm trying to figure out what rear end is in my car. a friend told me to take off the rear end cover, and read the numbers on the gears. he said the numbers represent the number of teeth on the gears. i couldn't find any numbers like that. i found the serial number 5 8 029011 [BW] BE 3-70 A on the larger gear, and 4G176 was on both gears. can the rear end ratio be figured out with those numbers? if it helps, the car is an 85 trans am ws6 with 4 wheel disc.
