I know that my trans has been going bad for some time now (been saving and trying to figure out what the best replacement would be). Several weeks ago i was pulling away from a stop sign and had to lay into the throttle to keep from getting hit. My trans started to slip and the rpm's jumped up and into the red. Now i have a really bad vibration around 1300-1500 rpm's no matter what gear i am in, any ideas on what the problem may be. thanks

 

Does it sound like it is comming from the center console? Beneath the radio?

 

No it doesnt, when i rev the engine with the hood open you can actually see the engine shake. I havent actually got under the car yet to check the mounts, but a freind was saying that i may have floated a valve or screwed something up in the valve train.

 

Hook up a vacuum gage to the engine you might be able to see if a valve is defective. The needle should drop then.
