Raising Tremec TKO

Has anybody with a TKO tried to mount it without the spacers? I have some severe ground clearance issues. I would like to raise the crossmember to the original height. I know there will be clearance issues with the tunnel but i would like to know if anybody has gone through the trouble of solving them. Can it be done with a hammer and some slight massaging of do you need to cut and weld?

I was told the spacers were just to repostion the crossmember not for clearance issues, but they looked so cheesy that I ordered the Spohn crossmember and for an extra 20 bucks they put the mount for the torque arm so when I have the cash I can upgrade. Let me know how it goes cause I have the TKO sitting in the garage waiting for me to get home.

I believe that the crossmember spacers are for keeping the correct pinion angle.

And yes, they really are cheesy looking.

i don't think they have anything to do with pinion angle. The TKO is bigger than the T5 and the crossmember mounting position is slightly back from stock. There will definately be a clearance issue though if you raise it to the original height.
