i have an 85 trans am and a few days ago i finally held my foot to the floor long enough to get a 3-4 wot shift.I thought they werent supposed to shift at wot into 4th. its an 85 trans am with a hypertech chip and thats it. my question, is how fats was i going, speedo only goes to 85. the car has 3.23 gears and stock 245 50 r16 size tires and it shifted at 5 grand and then went into 4th and then i went just a little more and let off, does anyone know how fast i was going , 3rd gear at 5 grand . thanks

 

The early valve (1982 -E1987) bodies would almost always allow 3-4 WOT shifts.

 

now that i know why my car does a wot 3-4 shift how fast was i going?

 

With 3.23 gears, with a 1:1 ratio and @ 5k you were probably going about 120 MPH.

 

hey i have an 84 z28 with 700r4 tranny ... my problem is that mine wont shift at WOT from 3 to 4 .. it goes to about 6k rpm at about 110-115 .. what i want to know is there any way around this at all w/o having to change the tranny.. basicly what would be the cheapest way to getting around it .. ill really apreciate any help any of u guys can give me .. thanks
