questions about vette servo

I recently installed a cam, headers and some other upgrades to my engine. I also put a Corvette servo in the tranny, after I finished the engine and took it for a test drive, it would not upshift. I figured since I had the throttle cable disconnected from the T.B. that I just needed to adjust my TV cable, but it made no difference, it still would not upshift. I never had a single problem with this transmission before I parked it to do the engine mods. After doing a little research on what may be the problem, checked the governor gear and it is fine, so I thought maybe my TV valve may be sticking from sitting for a couple months. So I dropped the valve body and installed the small Transgo kit with the new TV valve and cleaned everything up. Now it does shift one time but it is struggling to do it and I am not sure if it is going into second or from first to third. Could it be a problem with the vette servo, like I said, that is the only thing I had done to the tranny from when I parked it and then drove it after I finished the cam and headers.

The servo you replaced applies the 2/4 band (for 2nd). So it is possible that is causing the problem. Could have folded a seal over causing the servo to hang up or leak.

I have also found a couple of posts about band adjustment when reinstalling the servo, or the wiggle test to see if there is movement. I was unaware this had to be done at the time that I installed the servo so I never did this, maybe that is the problem. I still have the original servo, I will put it back in this weekend and see if anything dont look right with the vette servo (seals, etc.) and see how that works.

Well, I found the problem. The seal that goes around the 2nd apply piston was pinched. I should have checked that before anything else, since that was the only thing I had done to the tranny. Now it goes right into second like it is supposed to, but now I am having trouble getting it into third and fourth is nonexistent,WTF?, when I found that pinched seal I knew it would be fine once I fixed that. But of course not, could I have damaged the tranny by driving it around trying to get it to shift? I probably only went a couple of miles, and that was not all at once, I would adjust the TV cable and try it. I planned on a rebuild in the future to go with my engine upgrades, but I just cant afford it right now, that is why I have been trying to fix it myself. Does it sound like I fried it?

What kind of trouble are you having with third?

The fourth apply is the last piston that goes into the servo. It is the one that fts into the servo cover.

Definately make sure the TV is correctly adjusted.

It will barely shift into third and when it does, it wont stay, It down shifts back to second and I am going fast enough where it should not be downshifting.

When installing the Corvette servo, if it is installed wrong so that there is a major leak on the release side of the servo, it can fry the 3-4 clutch pack, due to lack of oil.

Gee, that's good news From the first time I drove the car after the cam install and it would not shift, my brother has been telling me "that is the only thing you did to the tranny, you must have done something wrong, check it out" My response was, "bullsh*t , I know I did it right" yeah, all but the pinched seal! What sucks is there was nothing wrong with ths friggin trans !, now I guess I have to get it rebuilt.
