Time for a new rear end?

Hey all. I'm running a stock '85 IROC rear. (9 bolt 3.42 I think?)
Anyways, the thing's got 260,000 miles on her, and whines fairly noticeably. I just got my 305 TPI rebuilt, and the car drives fine, but its ******* a little...I think my rear might be the culprit. Is it time to get her rebuilt? (I need to rebuild it for collector's value reasons). Also, how much can I expect to pay for a rebuild? I'm here in the San Francisco bay area, so labor is a little high.

Any input is appreciated - I want to make this car fast, and even with a rebuilt engine and tranny it, frankly, isn't that fast. I haven't gotten it dyno'd or taken it to the track, but I'd guess it runs somewhere in the 15s or 16s. Got some Spohn SFCs in the mail, hopefully that will help a little.

Thank you,
Anthony Helton
