T5 Speedometer Drive gear
T5 Speedometer Drive gear
Can anybody give me a quick run down of what I'm going to face changing the speedometer drive gear in my T5? Do I just remove the tailhousing and replace it or should I expect a headache?
Anybody know of a tech article maybe even with pictures anywhere? Thanks!

TPI ROC, to change the drive gear you must take the tailshaft off the transmission, its 4 bolts. the gear is on the shaft of the tranny. I haven't done it, the gear badbird is refering to is the driven gear, on the VSS, I change it in 10 minutes. But yes you are correct to change the drive gear you must take the tailshaft off.
The driven gear is very easy I can see that being 10 minutes worth of work, heck i've done it twice already before i realized i had a 8 tooth drive gear :sillylol:
I realize the 4 bolts for the tailshaft, Maybe even the shifter ... ?
Getting into it im not afraid of, i just dont know and haven't seen what kind of things i'll have to go through on the inside. It can't be on the shaft as its a tiny worm gear, not like the big one wrapped around the 700r4 shaft
Anyways Im still on the lookout for information, anybody who knows anything fill me in
