light flywheel vs heavier flywheel

light flywheel vs heavier flywheel

i have two differnt flywheels, one is a lighter 16 lber the other is a 25 lber, the 16 is in there now, should the car be faster et and mph wise at the track with the lighter one?

yes for all out racing applications a light flywheel is prefered. for street you'd want a heavier piece to maintain or hold energy while you slowly shift, as compared to racing.

The car will be quicker when it is in gear on acceleration with the light wheel. When you power shift the heavier wheel will be better, but if you do not power shift then the lighter will be better and easier on the transmission. Leaving from a stop light is easier with the heavier wheel. If you road race then the light wheel is superior. As you see there are advantages for each depending on the different situations.

well since its my daily driver and i race it on friday nights whenever i can the lighter one is probably my best bet when im at WOT bangin through the gears?
