Transmission ?'s
How hard would it be to swap transmissions. I have a 700R4 and its not doing to well so I will probably buy a rebuilt one. How hard would it be to swap them. I have little knowledge on swapping. I did a search but couldnt come up with much. Also, where can I find some cheap rebuilt ones? Thanks.

Quite easy to swap. Just kinda heavy. Drain the fluid first. Makes it lighter. Use a hydraulic jack and some wood under the pan to support it when you are unbolting the bellhousing and crossmember and torque converter. The bellhousing bolts are the only thing that can be hard to get to sometimes. If you lower the tail of the transmisssion some it's a lot easier to get to though. Make sure to dissconnect the coolant lines on the top passenger side first as well. Also, when you take out the drive shaft, fluid will probably come out of the tail, so make sure you have something on the floor to drain the fluid in if possible.
You could probably get the one in your car rebuilt pretty cheap, especially if you get stock parts. I rebuilt my own when I had my automatic for $120. The cheapest quote I got on a performance application was $800 and they would have taken it out for me. Do not go to AMMCO. Like $1500 and crappy performance. You could probably get a stock rebuild on your for like $500 or $600 range if you remove it yourself.
If you need step by step instructions you can message me. I have done a couple 700r4 swaps and just finished a manual conversion on my Trans Am.
