Shifter cable problem?

Ok here is the quick story. I took my car in to just get brakes done... no biggy... but when I got in my car to leave, It wouldn't even go into reverse. They say they didn't do it and must think I drove there in park or something... Anyway... besides all that junk, what could the problem be? Could the cable have come off on the bottom? I took the top part of the shifter (mega shifter) and everything looks fine from there. Anyone have any ideas, I am working on this issue at this minute. Thanks for anyones help.

Frank

P.S. I will of course never be going back to that "performance" shop...

Ok... when it rains it pours I guess is my only problem. The problem was that the shifter cable (5'!!) had some of the cable housing either worn away or burned away... I think it was worn due to being curled around something underneath to take the slack... The cables in the housing were bunching up when I would try to put it in any gear. This is why it went into park and stayed there. I got a new HEAVY b&m cable today... 3' this time and I must say... the shop has kept my business because not only was it not thier fault, but they installed the new cable for free. I had to drive to get the cable...but that's no biggie. I just jumped the gun because it seemed to odd to happen when it did... Brakes done... trans fixed... Whew :hail:
