hey guys what do you think? i found a deal on a 6 speed with all teh stuff you need for the conversion form the donor for $1100, its a t-56 out of a 96 camaro with 75K miles.... is it time to make teh switch?
also he has the engienthat was with it lt-1 for about 2000 but then add shipping possibly... i ahve a 90 camaro 305 tbi 700R4 now... (with 2.73 gears ) should igo for a used lt-1/ls-1 (prob not ls-1)or build a sbc 350/383 something????

Hum.. i say go for it on the trans, but make sure you have everything, and that the trans checks out alright. You dont want it to go withing 2k of driving it. Your gas milage is gunna SOAR with 2 over drives and 2.73's!!hehehe careful you dont stall out while driving 60! Anyway, you can build up the LT1 engine, which was the engine in 96. 98 is the first year of LS1's in fbodies. 97 for Vette. the LT1 will require a new ecm and harnes. The engine choice is up to you!

yea, i am really considering the tranny.... but i don't think i will be able to check t out... i woud lahve to have it shipped up here... what costs are involved for teh swap? all the tranny parts you get... which bearings shoudl you change since its open? cost? and that electronic spedo box adjuster thing for waht $100???

i think i would want the 6 speed and 3.73's....
