Tranny Problems (not Chevy)

I have a question about my Mustang. But seeing as how you guys rule *** and its not a Honda you might help[ me.

The Mustang is a 96 V-6 Auto(AODE).

About 2 weeks ago I noticed my tranny was slammin into gears insted of being smooth, and it downshifted at inappropriate times. About a week ago it seemed I had to fight it to upshift (backoff throttle completly and give it around 10 seconds.) When I took it out of drive and shifted 1-2-D it seemed to work fine. Then last night I was driving to my friends house and I couldnt get it to go into second. so I stopped and restarted it. Same thing when it first starts it will go into first or reverse but then it wont shift and after about a minute it just acts like its in neutral. you can set there and rev it in gear (like a standard with a bad clutch)

Now at first I thaught it was the tranny going out, but as I think about it I cant help but wonder if it could be something electrical?

Any one who can help, Please do

Thanks,
Steve

What is the condition of the fluid? Did you scan for codes? It does sound like the transmission is gone though.

Fluid was changed right before it happened, It still looks new. Only codes I'm getting is O2 sensor codes because of my lack of converters.

I too think it is gone. time for new torque converter and shift kit.

Thanks,
Steve

Use the Trans-Go Shift kit or the Performance Shift kit, both have a high pressure relief valve to keep parts from breaking from excessive line pressure when certain codes are present.
