Any gains from doing a auto to 5/6spd swap?

Are there any real 1/4 time gains from doing the auto to standard swap either with the 5spd or 6spd? I'm sure it will not be a huge gain like on my car but is it worth it? My friend has a 350 TPI 90 IROC lightly modded now.

You will end up being a tad faster. BUT if you put a nice stall in the Auto, you will be faster than the manual.

Manual is much more fun to drive though.

If you put a T5 behind the 350, it may not last that long. T56 6 speed is the way to go.

Thats kinda what I figured. I like 5spd myself, and on my mustang I dropped over a whole second from just the swap but the Ford AOD is a POS! I think a converter and a good shift kit would be a good gain. His tranny seems to shift sloppy to me.
