700r4 upshifts when in 1st
My old man has a rebuilt 700r4 in his camaro (zz502) and he said when he drops it into 1 and does a break torque a few seconds into it it is still shifting into 2nd Also when he is downshifting it won't go into 1st unless he's going slow. He thinks it's how the transmission is supposed to work but I never had that problem in my 88. Do any problems ring a bell to any of you or is that what a built 700r4 does?

Yes, it will still upshift without the ECM. Its a function controlled by fluid pressure in the valve body. I dont know if my old 700r4 did it before the kit but if you remove the MTV up spring it usually takes care of the problem. Some transmissions still shift to second even with the spring removed.
