My TH350 has a spacer in it that makes it as long as a 700R4

10 years ago a built TH350 and a ZZ1 crate engine were put in my car.

I cracked the flexplate and so when removing the transmission i noticed a block of aluminum that goes between the main body of the transmission and the tailshaft. It spaces the tailshaft back to the exact lenth of a T5 I had sitting beside it. My driveshaft, which i thought had to be custom, is the same length as the one I got to put in the car when the T5 does eventually go in. so its a stock length driveshaft.

I never took it apart so i don't know whats inside the block but has anyone ever heard of this before? Was there some kit offered to put a TH350 in a third gen without having to do anything custom? BTW, the tranny mount itself is not on the tailshaft but on the spacer. the part where the mount should be is still on the tranny itself but its actually mounted in the 700R4 location on the stock tranny cross member.

Anyone?

a long tail shaft th350 is the same length as a t5 or th700r4. with the b&m kit it's a easy swap to put a th350 in a thirdgen f body. the differance in length between a long and short tail shaft th350 is 3". with that much spacer it's be a neat trick to get everything to engage correctly.
