Bone yard GTA...
I found a GTA in the bone yard this weekend. The engine was already gone. The transmission was laying on the ground under the car sans tranny pan. The drive shaft was still connected to the tranny and rear end. It was in pretty rough shape.
I was hoping that it would be the aluminum "JG1" drive shaft. I couldn't find the build sheet anywhere on the car or in the center console. I don't know the specifics regarding the Al drive shaft or if you can tell just from visuals. I asked my buddy how I would tell if it is an Al drive shaft. He replied "magnet".
Where am I going to get a magnet in a junkyard?
"Speaker...." he says.
I look at him blankly.
Okay, so I grab a speaker from a nearby Caddy and get under the GTA.
"Klang!!!!"
The speaker is hanging from the drive shaft like they were siamese twins.
Guess it isn't aluminum.
