Just out of curriosity what is the best automatic transmission?

I'm thinking TH 350?

 

Turbo 400. They are bulletproof.

 

Yeah but I heard they waste a lot of HP ..... not very efficient with it's use. I'm talking best overall transmission for 0-60 , top -end & durability... .... any clue?

 

best for what? you need to be a bit more spicific with your intended application. auto or manual what sort of car engine combo? PG for a light car, th 350 or th400 for a heavy car , tremac or t56 for autocross, for every day street use a t56, t5, th700r4, 4l60e

 

4L65E stronger then a 4L60E and lighter then a turbo 400, and you can change shift points electronically, and add firmness electronically.

 

personally i like the 200-4r.

Kind of like the 700r4, except it has a lower first gear.

Some complain that it isnt as strong as the 700, which is true for a stock 200. But they can be built up like everything else. I know people who run them behind 11 second buick 455s.

The th350 and 400 are ok, i just can never stand only 3 gears. And you can always build a 4 speed trans to be stronger. But i guess if you were on a budget and were making a lot of power then a th400 would be the cheapest way to go to have a tranny that would last.
