1982 automatic transmisson

I have yet to buy my car and im doing a little research on it. I was wondering What model transmission was used in the 1982 z28 with an automatic transmisson. The model number or style of transmisson as in "TH-200c" or "th-350" . My friends father owns a tranny shop so he'll be doing the rebuild and adding a shift kit..or watever we decide on and im just trying to find out what "model" transmission "my" car has..thanks for the help

The TH200 is a 3 spd just like the TH350. First gear is a little steeper in the 200 though IIRC.

First in a 200C is 2.74. I wouldn't bother rebuilding one, they're junk. Stick a TH350 in

What they said (except for the 200c having overdrive). It's just a 3 speed auto tranny that is much weaker than a th350. For the same money or cheaper just have them build you a good th350 with a 6 inch tail shaft. Should fit right in--mine did. Of course with 3.73 gears I ended up swapping out the th350 and replacing it with a 700r4. Overdrive is nice, rpm at 60 mph went from 3000 to 2150

The 200-4r is the overdrive transmission you are thinking of.. It's the one behind the turbo 3.8's in the 89 anniv. ta's (among other things)..
