cant spin tires

91 rs carbed 305 ported polished lb9's 2.73 2500 stall TC

now....im wondering if the reason i dont spin tires, is the 2500 stall not dumping power to the wheels until 2500 rpm and eliminates tire slip...which is a good thing....i was just wondering if this is what was happening...

the engine itself is mechanically fine, pulls hard, turns the car sideways going into second gear.....just wont spin the tires much from a dead stand still.....tranny has 3000 miles on it....

also the porting and polishing killed some torque as well...i know that...

so anyone have any ideas? or is my idea fairly accurate.

plugs, wires, dist, etc etc all new, fine...works properly....

its mostly the gears killing you i would think, did it spin the tires before? u probably have some good hp but it doesnt kick in untill u get moving.

a stall is a good thing and should help ur 60 foot time.

it spun tires before the new tranny and TC, but i had both those pput in at the same time. only thing i havent done to my car myself actually, due to lack of a lift .

im not complaining that it doesnt spin tire, im pleased with that, id hate to lose time due to wheel spin. i was just wondering if the 2500 stall caused it to not spin because it stalls til 2500 to plant torque, now once i get up to 1500 -2000 my cars power slams you into the seat, and the carb lets it breath and make hp above and beyond 4500 rpm...i think pretty much everything ive done to the engine has killed its torque.....port n polish, gasket matched the intake,...a carb....2500 stall...Lt1 cam....all seemed to help kill off the line til 1500 rpm power.....but after that....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I don't think a 2500 stall would keep it from spinning but who knows. You don't even have posi so it should be very very very easy to spin.

I spin the hell out of that POS 2.73 open rear...bad...

see...thats what im saying, i know im making the power cause i feel the hell out of it after 1500-2000 rpm.....it just seems like its either getting too much or not enough fuel when i nail the gas....i still think it partly has to do with the porting and polishing .......and the 2500 stall...who knows...... for i definatly feel the power after 1500 rpm , and the engine runs correct and smooth as it can be.,..

if its a drum brake rear end the brakes could be adjusted too tight

haha.....wouldnt that be funny as all hell if it were true.....loosing 30 hp due to over tight brakes...that would be too good to be true .....ill have to check on that tomarrow lol.....even though, ive never done the drum brakes so i doubt anyone messed up and over tightened them

they would have worn down by now if that were the case, no one has touched the rear brakes since i got the car a year or so back...

I can actually spin easier with the 3000 stall converter compaired to the 2500 I used to run. Here's a video grab just to show ya

are you stalling it up, or just mashing the throttle? my truck has a 2500 s/c and if i just stab the throttle it spins the tires a little, but if i stall it up to 2300 or so, then let the brake off and mash it, it turns sideways and just obliterates the tires. and yes those gears are killing you with that stall i would think.
